Police Nab Suspect For Culpable Homicide In Kano

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, Kano State Police Command, have arrested one Aisha Kabiru for culpable homicide.

DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Kano State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, disclosed this earlier today.

TheFact Nigeria gathers that on Thursday, 19 August, a report was received by the Command to the effect that one Bahijja Abubakar, of Shekar Maidaki Quarters, Kumbotso LGA of Kano State, had been stabbed in the back of her neck and left in a pool of her blood at the same address, and that the culprit had fled to an unknown destination.

Upon receiving the report, the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, raised and instructed a team of Policemen led by SP Mudassir Ibrahim, Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Kumbotso Division to proceed to the scene.

The team immediately arrived the area and found the victim, whom they rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano where she was admitted, and unfortunately died the following day while receiving treatment.

The suspect, Aisha Kabiru, aged 17, and said to be of the same address with the deceased, was arrested on Friday in a hideout at Zawaciki Quarters, Kumbotso LGA Kano State.

On preliminary investigation, Kabiru confessed that she had had a misunderstanding with the deceased, which resulted into an altercation between them. Although they were separated from fighting and settled, Kabiru later took a sharp knife and stabbed Bahijja at the back of her neck, which resulted to her death. Kabiru fled upon realizing her crime, and went into hiding.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, has directed that the case be transferred to the criminal investigation Department of the Command, Homicide Section, for discreet investigation.

The police boss in the State further disclosed that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
