The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has summoned the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Joe Ajaero for questioning over alleged treason, terrorism financing, and other serious crimes.

This was contained in a statement signed by ACP Adamu S. Muazu, Assistant Commissioner of Police on Monday.

It requires Ajaero to report to the IRT Complex in Abuja on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 10:00 am.

According to the statement, failure to comply would result in a warrant of arrest being issued against him.

TheFact Daily notes that this development comes after the NLC raised an alarm about a raid on its headquarters in Abuja on August 8.

The union claimed that heavily armed security personnel stormed the Labour House, breaking in and ransacking the bookshop, and carting away hundreds of books and publications.

The operatives allegedly claimed they were searching for seditious materials used for the #EndBadGoveranance Protests.

However, the police authorities denied invading the NLC secretariat, stating that they only traced a suspected criminal to the building, which coincidentally houses the organization’s office.
