The high-profile marriage of Nollywood Star, Regina Daniels and Senator Ned Nwoko, has gotten into crisis, gripped by allegations of domestic violence and drug abuse.
The couple wedded in 2019 has long kept Nigerians with their 40-year age gap and lifestyle, but recent events have exposed deep secrets.
The problem started when a viral video showed the 24-year Regina Daniels in tears, alleging abuse in Nwoko’s household.
“In Ned’s house, I’m nothing, but in my house, I’m a queen,” she said, claiming she could no longer endure the violence.
Her brother, Sammy West, took to X, accusing Senator Nwoko of assaulting Daniels and intimidating their family.
The outcry sparked online support, with the #tag “#JusticeForReginaDaniels” trending on social media.
Daniels, who married Nwoko at 19, has faced scrutiny over their union, which joined her to the polygamous senator, already a father of six from five other wives.
The signs of division appeared earlier this year when Daniels briefly dropped Nwoko’s surname from her Instagram and removed his photos, despite a poetic anniversary post from Nwoko in March.
In a response on Sunday via X, Nwoko denied the abuse allegations, instead accused Daniels of drug and alcohol addiction.
“Regina’s battle with substances is the root of our problem,” he said, claiming she slapped staff, smashed windows, and damaged cars during a recent outburst in their Abuja home while he was absent.
He urged her to resume rehab in Asokoro or Jordan, blaming her brother and a friend, “Ann,” for enabling her behavior. “A clear-headed Regina would prioritize our son’s health,” he added, referencing their children.
Daniels, now reportedly living separately with their sons, has not responded to Nwoko’s claims. Legal experts suggest she could pursue divorce under Nigeria’s anti-violence laws, while Nwoko’s APC affiliation adds a political edge.
As Nigeria watches, the couple’s unraveling saga raises questions about love, power, and celebrity.
