Renowned author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her husband, Dr. Ivara Esege, have reportedly lost one of their twin sons, Nkanu Nnamdi, after a brief illness.
A statement on Thursday by a member of Adichie’s communications team, Omawumi Ogbe, said the boy passed away on Wednesday, 7th January 2026, and called on the public to respect the wishes of the family to grieve in private as they will not be making any statements about the incident.
Adichie, in an interview in late 2025, revealed that her sons were born in 2024.
