Shinkafi Assumes Duty As Water Resources Perm Sec

…Pledges To Operate Open Door Policy

The newly redeployed Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Alhaji Aliyu Shinkafi has officially assumed duty at the Ministry.

Shinkafi took over from Mrs. Esther Walson-Jack who has been redeployed to the Ministry of Education, after a brief handover ceremony on Wednesday.

He expressed readiness to work with everyone to achieve the mandate of the ministry.

The visibly elated Permanent Secretary who said he won’t be able to achieve much without the cooperation of the staff, pledged to operate an open-door policy.

“I want to solicit your cooperation to achieve the mandate of the ministry. Without your cooperation I won’t be able to achieve anything here”, he said.

Shinkafi appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his appointment and pledged to work hard with the staff to achieve the target of the ministry.

In her farewell address, the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Walson-Jack
extended her deepest gratitude to the entire staff of the Ministry for their unwavering support, dedication, and hard work during her tenure, adding that they have together faced challenges, celebrated victories, and worked tirelessly towards ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for all.

Mrs. Walson-Jack who told her successor that he inherited a competent and passionate team, expressed confidence that the new leadership would take the ministry to greater heights.

“To my successor, I extend a warm of welcome. You are inheriting a dedicated team, and I have no doubt that your leadership will further elevate the ministry’s efforts to ensure sustainable water resources and improved sanitation for all.

“I am confident that with your vision and commitment, the Ministry will reach new heights”, she assured.

She implored the staff to support the incoming Secretary, to propel the
Ministry to significant accomplishments.

“As I hand over the reins, I would like to leave a piece of advice to the entire staff. Building on the progress we’ve made together Is paramount. We have achieved significant milestones, and we must maintain this momentum.

“Let us continue to work collaboratively, pushing boundaries and striving for excellence in every endeavour.

“Change is Inevitable, and it brings new opportunities. Embrace the challenges ahead with the same determination and zeal that have defined our efforts so far. I implore you to support the incoming Secretary, as you can propel this Ministry to significant accomplishments”, Walson-Jack said.

She thanked the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, and the Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Barr. Mohammad Goronyo for their dedicated collaboration.

Earlier, in her opening remarks, the Director of Special Duties, Mrs. Phoebe Nwandu who spoke on behalf of the other directors at the ministry, thanked the outgoing Permanent Secretary for her unwavering support and dedication to duties during her time at the ministry.

She welcomed the new Permanent Secretary to the ministry.

She said, Permanent Secretary was coming at a time when the weight of the Ministry has increased, expressing confidence that he will hit the ground running in taking on the responsibilities.

Other dignitaries at the event were the directors, deputy directors, and senior  staff of the Ministry.
