Anambra: Be Magnanimous In Victory, Tinubu Charges Soludo

By Sunday Etuka

President Bola Tinubu has charged the incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, to be magnanimous in victory, and to seek the cooperation of his opponents in the just-concluded elections.

Tinubu gave the charge in a congratulatory message to the Governor on Sunday, following his declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the winner of the just concluded off-cycle election in the state.

TheFact Daily had earlier reported that Prof. Soludo was reelected as the Executive Governor of Anambra State, after securing 422,664 votes, ahead of his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled a total of 99,445 votes.

This paper also reported that the candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Paul Chukwuma came third with 37,753 votes, while George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP) and John Nwosu, of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), garnered 10,576 votes and 8,208 votes respectively.

The President, while also congratulating the people of Anambra State, the security agencies and the INEC on the peaceful and successful conduct of the governorship election, described Soludo’s re-election as a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance.

He commended Governor Soludo for bringing discipline, grace, brilliance, and a fresh perspective to governance in Anambra, noting that under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation.

“Governor Soludo, the Solution, has demonstrated that indeed knowledge is power and that academic principles can be applied in serving the people, undergirding accountability, transparency and prudent management of people and resources.

“I visited Anambra State in May this year, where I inaugurated some projects executed by the Soludo administration. I highlighted the good thinking behind the landmark projects being embarked upon by Mr Solution. That experience is indeed remarkable and will remain indelible in my mind,” President Tinubu said.

He assured Governor Soludo of his unwavering support, and looked forward to continued collaboration between Anambra and the Federal Government.

According to him, the victory of the opposition All Grand Progressives Alliance in the election again demonstrated the vitality of the nation’s political system and the fact that victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be encumbered or denied.

President Tinubu thanked the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for conducting what observers have described as a credible election, based on the reports he has received thus far.

He charged the commission to maintain the standards and further improve its performance, so the nation could continue to strengthen and deepen its electoral system.
