The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Enugu Region, has commissioned a new 75MVA 132/33kV power transformer at its Mile 50, Abakaliki Transmission Substation in Ebonyi State.
TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, who disclosed the development in a statement on Wednesday, said the transformer has boosted the substation’s capacity to 135MVA, enhancing its wheeling capacity and enabling more bulk power supply to Enugu Electricity Distribution Company for distribution to Ebonyi State and parts of Cross River State.
According the statement, the General Manager, Enugu Region, Transmission, Dr. Thomas Inugonum, revealed that the TCN has approved the procurement of a new 60MVA power transformer to replace a decommissioned leaking unit. Noting that this would add 48MW to the substation’s capacity upon completion.
The project is part of the ongoing TCN-World Bank power projects aimed at further enhancing power supply in Nigeria.
