TCN Confirms Planned Power Rationing In Abuja, Nasarawa State

By Sunday Etuka, Abuja

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed that there will be a scheduled power rationing in parts of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and Nasarawa State from Monday, 6th January to Monday, 20th January 2025 between 9am and 4pm daily.

TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, who confirmed the development in a statement on Friday, explained that due to the Federal Capital Development Agency’s (FCDA) road dualization project along the Apo axis, eight number 132kV and 33kV towers would be relocated along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line (Outer Southern Expressway route).

According to her, the relocation work would necessitate a planned power outage for two weeks, which is the estimated duration for the dismantling and construction of the towers as well as restringing of the power cables that would enable resumption of bulk power supply to the Apo Transmission Substation from Gwagwalada Substation.

Mrs Mbah said, while the relocation of the transmission towers is a necessity for the road completion project, TCN apologizes for the inconvenience this planned power outage will cause and assures that power supply will be restored as soon as the towers relocation and cable stringing are completed.

Recall that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) had earlier announced the scheduled power outage in a Public Notice to its esteemed customers today.
