An attack by armed individuals suspected to be terrorists on a border security facility belonging to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has left four persons dead.
According to a statement on Sunday by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, the attack occured on Friday evening at the Kangiwa border in Kangiwa local government area of Kebbi state.
Udo said the four persons who lost their lives were a local security watchman and three contractors. While no Immigration officer lost their life during the attack, the Service recorded substantial damages to its border facilities.
While expressing heartfelt condolences to the families who lost love ones in the tragic incident, the NIS said it is “actively working alongside other sister security agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for these hideous acts and bring them to justice”.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service remains steadfast in fulfilling its core mandate of border security, aligned with the overarching objective of enhancing national security”, the statement said.
