Tinubu Appoints Board Of SEC

In a bid to ensure the proper regulation of the Capital Market, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of some Nigerian professionals to serve in the Board of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale disclosed this in a statement on Friday, April 19, 2024.

Going by the appointment, Mr. Mairiga Aliyu Katuka was chosen to serve as the Chairman of the Board, while Mr. Emomotimi Agama was appointed as the Director-General.

Others are Frana Chukwuogor, Executive Commissioner (Legal and Enforcement), Mr. Bola Ajomale, Executive Commissioner (Operations), Mrs. Samiya Hassan Usman, Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services), Mr. Lekan Belo, Non-Executive Commissioner, and Mr. Kasimu Garba Kurfi, Non-Executive Commissioner.

They are expected to bring to bear their wealth of experience and competence in advancing the commission’s core mandate of developing and regulating a capital market that is dynamic, fair, transparent, and efficient, to bolster investor confidence and contribute immeasurably to the nation’s economic development.
