Tinubu, Other World Leaders Condole With Iran Over President Raisi’s Death

President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the passing of President Ebrahim Raisi who died in a Helicopter Crash with Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials on Sunday.
Tinubu described late President Raisi as a leader who was passionately committed to the development of Iran.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale said, while commiserating with the bereaved families, President Tinubu prays for the continuous peace, stability, and prosperity of the Iranian nation.
On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, the President assured the Islamic Republic of Nigeria’s support and prayers in this moment of grief.
Meanwhile, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin has also expressed sadness over the death of Raisi.
Putin said that “Raisi made an invaluable contribution to Russian-Iranian relations.
He stated that President Raisi was an outstanding politician whose whole life was devoted to serving the Motherland.
“He rightfully enjoyed the high respect of his compatriots and considerable prestige abroad.
“As a true friend of Russia, he made an invaluable personal contribution to the development of good-neighborly relations between our countries, and made great efforts to bring them to the level of strategic partnership”, he said.
Other leaders who sent in their condolences are: President Bashar Assad of Syria, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim ibn Hamad Al Thani, amongst numerous others.
