Tinubu Pledges To Support Mahama’s Govt

President Bola Tinubu has pledged Nigeria’s support for the administration of the newly inaugurated Ghana’s President, John Mahama.

He made the pledge on Tuesday while delivering his speech shortly after the inauguration of Mahama as the President of the Republic of Ghana, in Accra.

“President Mahama and I share a deep friendship. My dear brother , I am here to work with you. You know you can count on Nigeria’s support at any given time you call on me. We are your brothers and sisters. We shall always be there for you.

“Today, I am here not only as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but as an African in resolute support for Ghana and the people,” he said.

President Tinubu said the moment is a source of pride and honour for Ghanaians, the entire continent and its diaspora, adding that the inauguration of John Mahama was a reflection that Ghana is in harmony.

According to him, Mahama is man of patriotic vision and success who loves his nation and his people to the core.

He expressed confidence that the new government under the leadership of President John Mahama would work with Nigeria to strengthen the powerful bond, leading to greater shared progress and prosperity for the people of both nations.

“I have no doubt that your administration will bring about positive change and progress,” he told Mahama.

President Tinubu who is the current Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), said the West African states are capable of solving their problems, and have nothing to prove to anyone.

“Today we celebrate African democracy, as Ghana and beloved people mark transition from one democratic government to another.

“This does not merely symbolizes another milestone in the evolution of Ghanaian democratic society, it further demonstrate that in West Africa, we are capable of democratic and productive endeavours.

“It is time that our content stop forgetting the strides that Ghana, Nigeria and others have made. We have nothing to prove to anyone except ourselves. We will lift our nations out of poverty, and build strong and resilient economies for our people,” he said.

President Tinubu said with collaboration and shared vision, the West African states Iwill be able to tackle the pressing challenges like poverty, youth unemployment, instability, insurgency, others.
