
Like the Super Falcons, President Bola Tinubu has rewarded the nation’s female basketball national team, D’Tigress and Technical Crew with national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), for lifting the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket.
President Tinubu also rewarded each of the team member with $100,000, $50,000 to each member of the technical Crew, and apartment, according to the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The female team led by Coach Rena Makama, won the Afrobasket finals by defeating the Malian side, 78-64, in a thrilling match Sunday night at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
President Tinubu commended the skill, resilience, determination, and teamwork that propelled the team to the fifth consecutive title, and the seventh overall.
He praised the team’s determination that brought glory to the country despite losing the first quarter of the match.
D’Tigress dominated and conquered Africa, winning their 29th match without losing a single game since 2015.
