Transport Minister Condemns Borno Mosque Bomb Blast

The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali, has condemned the bomb blast that occurred at Al-Adum Jummuat Mosque in the Gamboru Market area of Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday, describing the incident as barbaric and inhumane.

The minister, in a statement on Friday by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Umar Jibril, said the attack was a painful reminder of the destructive impact of violence on society, stressing that peace remains the foundation for meaningful development in any nation.

Senator Alkali expressed his condolences to the Borno State Government and the people of the state over the tragic incident.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and wished those injured a quick recovery.

Preliminary reports from the Borno State Police Command indicated that five persons were killed in the blast, while 35 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri.

The minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government to supporting ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in Borno State and the wider North-East region,

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies in the fight against terrorism.
