Troops Arrest 5 Gun Runners, Kidnappers In Plateau
The Defence Headquarters said that its troops have arrested five suspected gunrunners and kidnappers in Shendam and Barkin Ladi LGAs of Plateau State.
Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig Gen Bernard Onyeuko, disclosed this Monday, 25 July, 2022.
TheFact Daily reports that according to Onyeuko, the arrests were made by troops of OPERATION SAFE HAVEN as they sustained their operational tempo in their Area of Operation.
Onyeuko disclosed that troops, while on clearance operation on Sunday, 24 July 2022, arrested 3 suspected gun runners at Shimakar village, in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The suspects, Julius Simon (alias Bagga) 37yrs, Wolta Zambai, 45yrs, and Iliya Peter (alias Doubok), aged 27 are currently undergoing investigation.
Similarly, Onyeuko disclosed further, on the same day, troops arrested 2 kidnappers at Barkin Ladi.
The suspects, Alhaji Musa Usman, aged 27, and Adam Mohammed, aged 25, confessed to have carried out several kidnapping activities in the general area including the kidnap of one Jeremiah Elijah, a 6-year-old, which took place on 21 July, 2022.
They are currently in the custody of the troops undergoing further interrogation.
“The Military high command commends troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN and encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on criminal activities”, Onyeuko said.
