US Will Run Venezuela Until ‘Safe’ Transition, Trump Says

By Sunday Etuka

The United States President, Donald Trump, has disclosed that the U.S. would run Venezuela until safe transition.

Trump disclosed this on Saturday, during a Press Conference while explaining the circumstances surrounding the capturing of the Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro.

TheFact Daily reports that Maduro and his wife were earlier captured by the United States for their autocratic rule in the country.
A U.S. official told Reuters that Maduro was captured by a team that included elite U.S. special forces, including the U.S. Army’s Delta Force.

Prior to the strikes, the U.S. government had accused Maduro of running a “narco-state” and rigging the 2024 election.

According to reports, the U.S. has not made such a direct intervention in its backyard region since the invasion of Panama 37 years ago to depose military leader Manuel Noriega over similar allegations.

Although the Venezuelan leader, a 63-year-old former bus driver has reportedly denied those claims and said Washington was intent on taking control of his nation’s oil reserves, the largest in the world.

However, Trump, when asked during the Press Conference, stated that running Venezuela is putting ‘America First.’

“I think it is,” Trump replied. “We want to surround ourselves with good neighbours. We want to surround ourselves with stability.”

“We have tremendous energy in that country, it’s very important that we protect it,” he said.
