The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of maritime workers, even as he called for sustained professionalism across the sector.

In a Workers’ Day message issued through his Special Adviser, Bolaji Akinola, on Thursday, the minister acknowledged the critical role played by maritime professionals in driving Nigeria’s economy.

“The maritime sector remains a critical pillar in Nigeria’s economic diversification agenda, and its continued growth is a testament to your hard work and commitment,” he said.

Oyetola noted that the sector’s workforce has continued to ensure seamless trade operations and revenue generation for the country.

“Your role in advancing the Blue Economy through sustainable resource management, innovation, and environmental stewardship cannot be overstated,” the minister stated.

He assured stakeholders of ongoing government efforts to strengthen the industry and protect workers’ rights.

“The Federal Government remains committed to improving working conditions, enhancing maritime security, investing in modern port infrastructure, and promoting policies that protect workers’ welfare and dignity,” he said.

The minister further urged maritime workers to remain steadfast in upholding high standards in the discharge of their duties.

“Continue upholding professionalism, integrity, and excellence as we collectively build a globally competitive maritime sector,” he added.
