Vigilante operatives working under Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended seven suspected logistics suppliers for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Lamisheri, Gujba LGA, Yobe State.

Disclosing this on Monday, security analyst and counter insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, said that the suspects were intercepted with three motorcycles intended for delivery to ISWAP terrorists operating within the Timbuktu Triangle, a notorious insurgent stronghold in the North East.

He revealed, according to security sources, that logistics supply chains including the smuggling of motorcycles, fuel, food, and weapons have played a crucial role in sustaining insurgency in the region.

Informants embedded within local communities continue to facilitate these operations by providing intelligence to terrorists, aiding their movements, and ensuring they receive critical supplies.

The activities of these informants have significantly prolonged the conflict, undermining military efforts and exposing communities to further attacks.

In many cases, security forces have neutralized or repelled insurgents, only for them to regroup with the help of collaborators who provide fresh supplies and escape routes.

The Nigerian Military have repeatedly warned that disrupting ISWAP’s supply networks is key to weakening the group’s operational capacity.

Meanwhile, the arrested suspects are in custody for further investigation.
