10 Months After, Tinubu Approves Reconstitution Of NEITI Board

Ten months after the dissolution of the Board of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), President Bola Tinubu has given approval for the reconstitution of the Board.

This was disclosed by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen in a statement signed on behalf of the SGF on Monday.

The Board which is also known as the National Stakeholders’ Working Group (NSWG) was part of 151 boards of the Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-owned Companies dissolved in June last year.

However, the President has approved the reconstitution of the Board with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume as Chairman, and Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji as the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Other members of the 15-man NEITI NSWG include Executive Chairman, Federal Member Inland Revenue Service, FIRS Zacch Adedeji, the Group Chief Executive Officer, NNPC Ltd, Mele Kyari, Mr. Oghenegwueke Ajafia, President, Miners Association of Nigeria Mr. Dele Ayanieke, Engr. (Mrs.) Nkechi Isigwe;

President NUPENG, Comrade Willians Apkoreha, Barr. Musa Abdullahi Lawan, Representative of North -West Zone, Abubakar Mu’azu, Representative of North – East Zone Amb. Matthew Sunday Adoli Member Representative from North-Central Zone Olasupo, Abdel-Jeleel Taiwo, Representative of South -West, Chief Israel Ikechukwu Member Representative of South – East, lkwuegbu Dr. Stephen Leo Akpan, Representative of South – South.

The statement said, the OSGF has written to the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) through NEITI to elect and present their representative.

He also disclosed that the inauguration of the Board will be announced indue course.
