You Can’t Be Greater Than Fela — Seun Kuti Shades Wizkid, Burna Boy
Seun Kuti has come out to warn top artist to stay away from his father, Fela’s lyrics.
The son of the Afrobeat legend made this subtle warning while reacting to claims that some new-school singers are turning out to be better than his father.
This comparison started when Netizens opined that Nigerian music star, Wizkid, is now bigger than Fela, considering his international exploits and collaborations.
Seun, who wasn’t pleased with the opinion of the social media users took to his Instagram page to respond to the “kids” debating the issue.
He urged them to stop disrespecting and reducing the value of their “ancestors” especially those who fought for their rights.
He indirectly attacked Wizkid and Burnaboy who on the past copied some of Fela’s style. He said no one can be greater than someone they take or steal from.
He wrote: “I have warned many of u, many times to stop using your ancestors as tooth pick, especially those that fought for u but your ignorance just won’t let u be so you can’t learn and that’s why you keep living a cursed life of criminality without direction, infatuation without love, present without future, and pleasure without control. You are cursed to be indisciplined and you think you are having fun. These kids don’t know!!! #getthesax”
