Yuletide: FG Declares Free Train Ride From December 24 To January 4
The Federal Government has declared free ride on all passengers train from December 24 to January 4, 2022 to enable Nigerians travel for Christmas.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation ( NRC) made this known on Friday in a statement by it’s Spokesman, Mahmood Yakub.
TheFact Nigeria reports that passengers were expected to obtain their ticket from appropriate quaters at no cost.
According to the statement, “The federal government through the Ministry of Transportation has in the spirit of Christmas declared passengers train across the Nigerian Railway Corporation Service system free of charge during Christmas period, to enable Nigerians travel and celebrate Christmas.
“All the passengers train on both standard gauge and narrow gauge lines which includes the Abuja-Kaduna train service, Lagos-Ibadan train service, Warri-Itakpe, Kano-Lagos; Minna-Kaduna and Aba-Port Harcourt routes are now free from today Friday 24, December 2021 to Tuesday 4th January, 2022 inclusive.
“However, the NRC management further explains that all boarding tickets due process by our valued customers must be complied with but not paid, while COVID-19 protocols also must be strictly observed on board.
“The board and management appeals to all Nigerian to use the Federal Government kind gesture, during this holy period to pray for our country wishing all Nigerians happy Christmas and prosperous new year,” the statement said.
