10 Years After, UN Remembers Victims Of Bomb Blast
At a solemn event today, the United Nations System in Nigeria and representatives of Government remembered 23 colleagues that died, following the unfortunate incident that occurred on 26 August 2001 at 10:20am precisely.
The event which was chaired by the Resident Coordinator Dr. Edward Kallon and supported by Heads of UN Agencies, marked 10 years since the unfortunate loss of UN Nigeria colleagues in the bomb blast.
TheFact Nigeria noted that the country had been battling terrorism for over ten years, the current president gained popularity because of his promise to bring an end to it, yet the country has rather witnessed an increase in other security challenges.
Remembering her colleagues who paid the ultimate price in the August 26 attack, Ms. Charity Warigon, Media and Communication Expert for WHO Nigeria said;
“The memory is still fresh and WHO Nigeria reaffirms our commitment to the services of humanity even as we continue to stand with the families of our departed colleagues. May their souls continue to rest in peace.
“WHO lost three colleagues; Dr Edward Dede, Mr Yemi Osunsanya & Engr. Musa Ali. We remember them today for the ultimate sacrifice they made for humanity”, she said.
