FRSC To Issue Drivers’ Certificate For Election Duties
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has said it would conduct a certification of drivers and vehicles to be used by INEC, for the forthcoming elections across the country.
According to the Sector Commander, FCT Command, Mr. Oga Ochi, in an interview Monday, “the move is in line with the Standard Operating Procedures of Elections in Nigeria”.
“The driver must pass through that checklist and has to successfully pass the certification exercise before the driver can be used and the same thing with the vehicle.
“The vehicles must have met the standard that the checklist provided before they can be used for the election,” Ochi said.
The FCT commander assured that the corps was fully prepared for any emergency before, during and after the elections.
He further disclosed that the Corps was going to deploy ambulances to respond to medical emergencies that voters may suffer as a result of the time spent waiting to cast their votes, especially in parts “where we expect people to move en mass for voting, in order to respond to any emergency.
“At the same time, our tow trucks will also be deployed to remove whatever obstruction that could be created during the period.
“This is to ensure that people move freely to their polling booths and all election materials are moved freely to their locations,” Ochi stated.
