The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has denied pegging the price of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) at the Port Harcourt Refinery at N1,030 per litre.
NNPC made the clarification in a statement on Friday by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr Olufemi Soneye.
Recall that the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) in an earlier statement stated that the NNPC Retail Ltd has officially announced the PMS price at the Port Harcourt refinery as N1,030 per litre, adding that it was also communicated to the association that the product request portal was open for booking /request.
Reacting this, the national oil company said it has not yet commenced bulk sales or opened its purchase portal for the refinery, as essential processes are still being finalized.
NNPC said the products being sold currently were bought from the Dangote Refinery with applicable NMDPRA fees, clarifying that products from the PH refinery are exclusively for its retail stores at the moment.
While noting that its pricing is reviewed and adjusted periodically as necessary to reflect operational realities, the company
advised the public to disregard any misleading information regarding pricing as official announcements would be made if and when price reviews occur.
