Nigeria Will Overcome Current Challenges -Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima says Nigeria would overcome its current security and economic challenges through fervent prayers, unity, and the collective commitment of citizens, assuring that President Tinubu remains fully committed to strengthening security, growing the economy, and improving the welfare of Nigerians.

Shettima, who represented the President, spoke on Sunday in Abuja at the Annual Grand Prayer Session held at the National Mosque in honour of the late Alhaja Mogaji, mother of President Tinubu and former Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, who died on June 15, 2013, at the age of 96.

The VP described the late matriarch as a woman whose influence shaped Nigeria’s moral imagination and who instilled in her son values of public service and leadership that now guide his presidency.

He praised her decades of work supporting market women and traders, saying she dedicated her life to service before seeking to be served.

According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media & Communications, Office of The Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima led prayers for the repose of her soul, asking God to grant her a place among the righteous.

Earlier, the Convener of the event and Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Ibrahim Masari, said more than 250 boreholes have been constructed across nine northern states in her memory, and announced plans for an Islamic centre in Abuja and a Mosque in Rigasa, Kaduna State, to honour her legacy.

The event was attended by governors, former governors, representatives of the Sultan of Sokoto, federal ministers, and other top government and traditional leaders.
