FCT Police Raid Bandits’ Forest Hideout, Recover Assault Rifles

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its campaign against kidnapping and organised crime with the recovery of two FN FAL assault rifles and live ammunition from a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest, located between Plateau and Bauchi states.
The FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Aden made this known on Wednesday.
According to her, the recovery followed a follow-up operation conducted on August 2, 2026, by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit during ongoing investigations into the arrest of four suspects earlier paraded on July 11 for allegedly supplying arms, ammunition and illicit drugs to bandits.
Actionable intelligence provided by one of the suspects, Musbahu Ishaq, led operatives to the forest hideout, where investigations uncovered one of the criminal network’s operational bases.
Investigators further established that Ishaq allegedly sourced weapons and ammunition from one Rabiu Hassan before supplying them to a suspected bandit kingpin, Baba Alhaji Sanusi, who is currently at large and believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State.
A thorough search of the hideout led to the recovery of two FN FAL assault rifles and live ammunition concealed within the camp.
The Command said efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate, recover additional weapons linked to the network and prosecute all those involved.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, assuring residents that operations would continue until every member of the syndicate is brought to justice.
He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support the fight against crime.
