Officials of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Katsina Sub-Region, and Imcomtel Engineering Limited have carried out a joint inspection of the Katsina 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation Project as the facility prepares to enter its next major installation phase.
TCN, in a statement on Saturday said the inspection which took place recently, was led by the Assistant General Manager (Transmission) of the Katsina Sub-Region, Engr. Usman Idris, who hosted the visiting Imcomtel delegation headed by Engr. Emmanuel Okafor.
The company said during the exercise, the team assessed various aspects of the substation, including ongoing civil works, equipment locations and supporting infrastructure, with a view to confirming the project’s readiness for the next stage of development.
A key focus of the inspection was the evaluation of two 100MVA power transformers, which were delivered to the site on July 9, 2026, along with their designated plinths.
Once installed, the transformers are expected to significantly enhance transmission capacity across Katsina State and the wider North-West region.
TCN said the team also inspected four newly delivered, state-of-the-art control rooms, examining their readiness to accommodate critical protection, monitoring and control systems for the substation.
The statement revealed that at the conclusion of the visit, both TCN and Imcomtel reached an understanding on the outstanding technical requirements and site preparations necessary to ensure smooth coordination as the project progresses toward completion.
Also part of the inspection team, according to the company, were the Principal Manager, Engr. Mustapha Idowu, and other Heads of Technical Departments from both organisations.
