ACOE Congratulates Nigerians On 66th Independence Anniversary

The Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) has felicitated Nigerians as the country marks 66 years of independence, urging citizens to embrace unity, patriotism and a firm commitment to the growth of democracy.

The association also encouraged Nigerians to take part actively in the 2027 General Elections, noting that voters hold the power to shape the nation’s future through the ballot.

The message was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by the ACOE Chairman, Comrade Sola Akingboye, to mark the anniversary.

Akingboye extended the association’s good wishes to Nigerians at home and abroad. He said the occasion offered a chance to look back at the country’s journey, its achievements and the challenges it has faced since independence.

He appealed to Nigerians to protect the unity and peaceful coexistence of the nation, regardless of ethnic, religious, political or regional differences.

In his words, “the country’s diversity should be seen as a strength and a foundation for building a more inclusive and prosperous nation.”

The chairman stressed that voter participation is vital to deepening democracy and keeping elected officials accountable to the people.

He urged political actors, civil society groups, the media and other stakeholders to promote campaigns built on issues and to engage peacefully before, during and after the polls.

Akingboye also called on citizens to avoid violence, hate speech, misinformation and any other conduct that could threaten peace and democratic stability.

On the role of the media, he said online platforms in particular have a duty to give the public credible information and encourage responsible conversation on national matters.

He urged Nigerians to use the anniversary to renew their faith in the country and contribute positively to its progress.

According to him, ACOE remains committed to responsible journalism, national unity and democratic values.

He called on citizens to work together to build a peaceful, prosperous and united Nigeria.

Akingboye wished Nigerians a happy 66th Independence Anniversary and expressed confidence that the country would overcome its challenges and achieve its full potential.
