The Democratic Front (TDF) has said it is surprised by what it called the insensitivity of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has reportedly not paid its staff salaries for over a year.
In a statement by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, TDF said it was irresponsible for a party known for blaming the administration of President Bola Tinubu for hunger and poverty in Nigeria to neglect its own workers.
The group condemned the ADC as hypocritical, saying it exaggerates the story of hardship in the country while adding to the national poverty index by refusing to pay salaries.
It said the party’s failure to respect the dignity of labour showed gross incompetence and an inability to manage the economy if given the opportunity.
TDF also warned that the ADC would do worse to Nigerian workers if voted into power in 2027.
TDF linked the party’s conduct to the records of its leaders. It claimed that most of the private companies owned by the ADC Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, have folded because of irregular payment of salaries.
It said National Chairman David Mark presided over a Senate that watched 27 states owe workers’ wages without acting, and that National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola paid workers half salaries for months as governor of Osun State.
According to the group, the three have a reputation for being anti-worker and anti-people. It described it as unpalatable that they are at the forefront of opposition against President Tinubu, whose leadership it said is delivering development and prosperity to Nigerians.
TDF called on Nigerians to reject the ADC and its leadership over their contribution to the country’s poverty index, and to support an administration it said is carrying out multiple poverty alleviation measures.
