The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), in collaboration with the United States of America, has successfully conducted precision strike operations against identified foreign ISIS-linked elements operating in parts of North-West Nigeria.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Director, Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Samaila Uba, the operation was carried out with the requisite approval of appropriate Federal Government authorities and forms part of sustained, coordinated efforts to eliminate terrorist and criminal threats to national security.
The strikes were executed following credible intelligence and meticulous operational planning, aimed at degrading the operational capabilities of the targeted elements while minimizing collateral damage.
“This decisive action underscores the resolve of the Federal Government of Nigeria, working alongside strategic partners, to confront transnational terrorism and prevent foreign fighters from establishing or expanding their presence within Nigeria’s borders”, Uba stated even as he reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the AFN to the protection of lives and property as it “remains steadfast in supporting joint and inter-agency initiatives geared towards restoring enduring peace and security across the nation”.
