By Sunday Etuka

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has again distanced itself from an unauthorised social media account on X, formerly twitter, operating under s name “Nigeria National Grid,” warning the public and the media against treating any content from the account as official.

In a fresh statement on Saturday, NISO said it observed with concern that the said account continues to operate and circulate misleading information about the nation’s power grid, despite the earlier disclaimer about its activities in a press release dated January 17, 2026.

“NISO does not own, manage, control, or operate the social media account on X bearing the name “Nigeria National Grid,” the System Operator stated, adding that the individuals or entities behind the account are unknown to the organisation and have no authority to speak on its behalf or represent its views in any capacity.

NISO urged members of the public, especially journalists and industry stakeholders to refrain from quoting, referencing, or attributing any information, statements, or opinions from the said account to the organisation, stressing that such content in no way reflects its official position or activities.

As the body legally mandated to manage Nigeria’s National Grid, NISO appealed to the public to verify any information from its official some media handles. These include its Facebook and LinkedIn pages under the handle @ Nigerian Independent System Operator, Instagram @officialniso_ng, X @OFFICIALNISO_NG and its offical website at www.niso.org.ng.

The agency appealed to the media and the public to report any further unauthorise use of its identity or mandate, reaffirming its commitment to transparent and responsible communication with all stakeholders.
