The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has once again announced that the national grid experienced a partial disturbance at about 1;52 pm today, 5th November 2024.
TCN announced this in a General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Mrs Mbah explained that the partial system disturbance was caused lines and generators trippings.
She however, disclosed that the data from the National Control Centre (NCC) revealed that a part of the grid was not affected by the bulk power disruption.
Stating, that TCN engineers are already working to quickly restore bulk power supply to the states affected by the partial disturbance.
The GM said, “presently, bulk power supply has been restored to Abuja, at 2.49pm, and we are gradually restoring to other parts of the country.
“We sincerely apologize for every inconvenience this may cause our electricity customers,” he said.
Recently, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) held an investigative public hearing to probe into the incessant grid collapses in the country.
This was in addition to the committee inaugurated by the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu to advise government on the best ways to prevent grid collapses in Nigeria.
After the hearing, the NERC’s Chairman, in addition to other solutions proffered, directed the TCN to establish a spinning reserve to help in the event of grid collapse.
