The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has debunked reports that he said the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has been printing money since 2015.
Amaechi in a statement on Tuesday by his media assistant Taiye Elebiyo- Edeni said, Nigerians should disregard the publication circulating on social media.
TheFact Nigeria gathered that a publication had alleged that Amaechi told newsmen prior to the 2019 general elections that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to keep printing money since 2015.
The report also said the minister revealed that cabinet members were made to swear to an oath never to publicly admit to Nigerians that the government was on a printing spree of the national currency.
According to the report,.. “And most of you didn’t know at the time we took over, most Nigerians don’t even know because we have sworn to an oath not to tell anybody we were printing money”.
The minister however said he has never held any headed any financial institution in the country and therefore, he does not qualify to speak on such issues.

“I advise Nigerians who wants information on printing of money to find out from the appropriate agency not circulating a false statement to gain cheap publicity”, he said.
