APC Engages Social Media Influencers to Enhance Party’s Image, Fortune
In a bid to enhace its image and streamline information dissemination in the era of fake news and hate speeches, the All Progressives Congress, APC on Monday held a meeting with party members who are bloggers, social media influencers and other members of the online media community.
The virtual meeting which was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senior Special Assitant to the President on Media, Garba Shehu, Secretary to the National Caretaker Committe, John Akpan Udoedehe and over one hundred bloggers was conveyed by the National Youth representative in the national caretaker committee, Ismail Ahmed.
Addressing journalists at the National Secretariat of APC, Ahmed said the essence of the interaction was to officially recognise and interface with members of the new media community who have been loyal and kept faith with the party, and to show them that the party value their input.
He said, “We felt it was important to recognise some of these social media influencers and online warriors who have helped to shape opinion in the positive light.
“These members of the party who are soldiers online, have contributed to the growth and expansion of the party since 2015 and yet the party never had the opportunity to have an interface with them.
“We felt it is important during the lifetime of this caretaker committee to meet with them so that we can have a central database in order to be able to synergize and build a robust relationship with the government and our online warriors and social media influencers so that they can properly disseminates the programmes and policies of this government.”
