In his acceptance speech, Chief Udeze promised to consolidate on his achievements by repositioning the AA to win the Presidential election and take over the goverment at the center come 2023.

He also pledged to introduce new measures that would reposition the Party for greatness across the country.

While soliciting the support of members of the Party, Chief Udeze said the National Executive Committee of AA had approved the expulsion of some members for gross misconduct.

Speaking on Security, Chief Udeze who expressed concern over the level of insecurity in the country, called for the creation of State Police as part of measures to tackle the security challenges.

He also emphasized the need for more collaborative efforts in combating kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, Boko Haram and other forms of insecurity facing the country.

While soliciting the support of members of the Party, Chief Udeze said the National Executive Committee of AA has approved the expulsion of some members for gross misconduct.

Highlight of the Convention was the affirmation of National Secretary, Mr Vernimbe James and other 25 National Executive Committee members of the Party.

Speaking on the convention, Electoral Committee Chairman, Hon. Chuks Oriala gave an insight into events that occurred in the AA prior to the convention.

Hon. Oriala said: “You know that sometime ago, there were series of litigations from some members of the party over the leadership and

The litigation passed through its normal process and judgment was received which Barr. Chief Kenneth Udeze was asked to go back and continue with his good work in Action Alliance.

“Because of the constitution of the party, it was expected that before a new administration will take over, they would have done a convention for it not to enter at a time when he should be leaving office, they decided to do it now, scheduling 9th10th, 11th and 14th March for the ward, Local Government and State congresses which have now culminated into the National Convention.

“Actually, as he said, there were no elections for the other offices because it was only for the chairmanship that one Izuwuru also contested with him. You know, in any election of this nature, there are always designated delegates that are qualified to be part of that convention and the delegates have done their work and returned him with 160 votes as against the five votes for his opponent, Mr.Uzenuru Nwachukwu.

“So he is the authentic winner and automatically, a new term has been given to him to serve as the National Chairman of the Action Alliance.

“The process was not only transparent, it was cordial. In fact, some of them who had been here since Friday from the states. When I met with them yesterday, I was made to understand that they are not only determined to remain as one, irrespective of infractions. (There is no party that does not have infractions).

“They made up their minds that they were going to support him because this is the first time in the history of the party that the party has much representatives both at the states and National Assembly. Remember that in the coalition that gave birth to the merger wherein other parties had to support Abubakar Atiku in the last election, it was Chief Udeze who actually made the nomination and it was taken so I think he is breaking ground.

“Very soon, he will make some good tick notes in the party and I believe that if some members of the party continue to support him without all this undue recalcitrant attitude, they will go forward.”
