Lassa Fever: Nigeria Records 995 Confirmed Cases, 184 Deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) says the nation has recorded a cumulative of 995 confirmed cases and 184 deaths from Lassa Fever.

The agency, in the Lassa Fever Situation Report for Week 46 (10th – 16th November, 2025) stated that the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) was 18.5% (higher than 16.2% same period in 2024

NCDC said the number of confirmed cases increased from 10 in Epi week 45 to 19 in Epi week 46 of 2025. The cases were reported in Bauchi, Ondo and Edo state.

“Cumulative for week 46 (2025) total: 995 confirmed cases, 184 deaths, CFR 18.5% (higher than 16.2% same period in 2024). ⁠21 states have recorded at least one confirmed case across 102 LGAs”.

The report further said ⁠88% of confirmed cases were from Ondo, Bauchi, and Edo State. The predominant age group affected was 21- 30 years and no new healthcare worker was affected this week.

Also, the number of suspected and confirmed cases decreased compared to that reported at the same period in 2024.
