Femi Fani-Kayode Contradicts Self, Joins APC
The former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The former minister was presented to the President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, by the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of APC, and governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
TheFact Nigeria recalled that Kayode in October 2018 via his Twitter handle @realFFK had said he Would rather die than join the All Progressive Congress (APC).
He alleged that, those who defected to the ruling party were doing so over fear of been prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission,( EFCC).
According to him,”I am not surprised that @MObanikoro and @iyiomisore have got their passports back from the EFCC and are now in America.I do not blame them for joining the ruling party to avoid persecution. Some are strong whilst others are weak.I would rather die than join APC or bow to Buhari.
However, in February, Kogi state Yahaya Bello saod Fani-Kayode had crossed over to the APC but Fani-Kayode denied the claim saying, he was still a member of PDP.
Fani-Kayode who contradicted himself while speaking with state house correspondents after his meeting with the president said he decamped from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the sake of national unity.
He said he had been responsible for many other defections into the ruling party.
According to him, he was instrumental to defection of three PDP Governor to APC, including Dave Umahi (Ebonyi); Ben Ayade (Cross River) and Bello Matawale (Zamfara).
