The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has clarified that its Chief Executive, Abdulrasheed Bawa is ‘hale and hearty’.
The clarification, according to the Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement, became necessary following a sudden health scare at the Presidential Villa earlier today, involving Bawa.
TheFact Nigeria reports that Bawa m was giving a goodwill message to the National Identity Day celebration, when he felt unwell and had to return to his seat. He was talking about a man the commission arrested in Ibadan, Oyo state, with 116 SIM cards when he stopped talking and covered his face with his right palm, saying, “Please, excuse me, I can’t continue.”
He was assisted to his seat by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami and other senior officials at the event, but the anti-graft czar slumped on his seat, shortly after he was he was rushed out of the Villa.
The Master of Ceremony (MC) later announced that Bawa’s condition was stable.
According to Uwujaren, the EFCC chief ‘has since received medical attention and is due back at his desk’.
