FG To Inaugurate Committee On Minimum Wage Tuesday

The Federal Government is set to inaugurate tripartite committee on National Minimum Wage, following the approval by President Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu’s approval was conveyed in a letter written by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume to Comrade Ambali Akeem Olatunji of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), dated January 23, 2024.

According to the letter, the inauguration will take place on Tuesday, 30th January 2024 at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, State House, Abuja.

The letter said, “Members are to be seated by 11.30am. Kindly note that a shuttle bus will be available at the pilot gate to convey members to the venue from 10.00 am.

“In light of the above, you may wish to contact the Secretariat of the Committee in the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission”, the letter read.

Recall that the federal government and the NLC have been on the negotiation table to agree on a new minimum wage that reflects the current economic realities and the rising cost of living in the country.
