He noted that credible identity management is central to effective law enforcement, crash reduction strategies and national planning.

He commended NIMC for expanding Nigeria’s identity database and strengthening the National Identification Number (NIN) ecosystem, while also reiterating the Corps’ resolve to enforce the NIN as a mandatory requirement for vehicle registration and the acquisition of the National Driver’s Licence, describing the move as critical to sanitising the motoring environment and improving traceability in the road transport sector.

The Corps Marshal further sought FRSC’s inclusion in NIMC’s Annual Identity Forum, noting the agency’s frontline role in identity management through driver licensing and vehicle registration processes.

He added that closer collaboration would accelerate innovation, improve data accuracy and enhance operational efficiency across institutions.

In her remarks, NIMC Director General, Engr. Adesoye Coker, pledged the Commission’s commitment to partner with FRSC on data integration initiatives that support crash reduction and national security objectives.

She commended the Corps Marshal for ongoing reforms and modernisation within the FRSC, expressing confidence that deeper synergy between both institutions would deliver lasting national benefits.

Ogungbemide stated that the meeting marks another step in the Federal Government’s efforts to build a harmonised, technology-driven identity architecture to strengthen governance, promote accountability and safeguard lives on Nigerian roads.
