Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has dedicated his victory in the just concluded governorship election in Osun to God and the good people of the state.
In a statement posted on X following the outcome, Adeleke described himself as humbled by the support and praised what he called the resilience and democratic commitment shown by Osun residents throughout the process.
He said the win belongs to the people and promised not to let them down.
The governor called for calm and reconciliation now that voting has been concluded, urging residents across the state to embrace peace and unity rather than division.
He said there would be no “victor” or “vanquished” mentality under his administration and extended goodwill to the other candidates who contested against him, stressing that he intends to govern on behalf of all Osun residents regardless of political affiliation.
Adeleke also acknowledged those who lost their lives in violence recorded ahead of the election, observing a moment of silence in their memory and appealing to traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders to lead the healing efforts in affected communities.
Looking ahead to his new term, the governor pledged to build on the achievements of his first term while addressing its shortcomings.
He reiterated his administration’s ambition to reposition Osun from a civil-service-dependent economy into an industrial hub and a more attractive destination for investment, promising an expansion of development programmes and governance reforms over the next four years.
Adeleke also thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting a free and fair electoral process, and extended appreciation to democracy advocates and members of the media, both locally and internationally, for their coverage of the election.
