‘Her Appointment Against Our Wish’, NIPOST Staff Rejects New Postmaster
Workers of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) have rejected the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as Post Master General, saying her appointment was against their wish.
The protesting workers who prevented Odeyemi from entering the service headquarters on Monday in Abuja said,
they preferred the former Postmaster-General, Adeyemi Adepoju.
TheFact Daily recalled that Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale had last week announced Odeyemi’s appointment.
She replaces the outgoing postmaster general, Adepoju, who was appointed in 2022 by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In an earlier statement on Friday by
NIPOST, Adepoju alleged that President Bola Tinubu has reappointed him as Postmaster General.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned Rt. Honourable Adeyemi Sunday Adepoju as the Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), citing Adepoju’s sterling leadership and excellent performance during his stay in office as the reason for his reinstatement”, the statement said.
Also, Adepoju was seen in a viral video addressing some workers who claimed Tinubu had reappointed him.
However, on Monday, the protesting workers denied the newly appointed postmaster, Odeyemi entry into the building.
The workers, who said, they preferred Adepoju, chanted solidarity songs and wielded placards.
