Just In: Tinubu Orders 60% Reduction In Expenditure For All Official Travels
President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive for a 60 percent cost reduction in expenditure for all official travels, both domestic and international.
This, he noted was part of cost-cutting measures of his administration.
His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale disclosed this to State House Correspondents on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The measures, according to him, will affect the President’s office, the VP’s, the First Lady’s office, Ministers, and heads of agencies.
He said, “Tinubu has directed that all state entourages be drastically reduced. This is not a request. It is a directive. The office of the president and staff will be affected. VP, appointees are affected.
“By this directive, there will be a slashing of expenditure on official travel by 60 per cent”, he said.
Ngelale said, going by the directive,the President is limited to 20 number of staff outside the country. Every minister is limited to having just four members of staff on any foreign trip while heads of agencies are limited to just two staff.
On security, the spokesperson said, Tinubu would reduce his security delegations to any state in the country. This, he said, would be implemented by using the security in the state where he will visit,and the same applies to the vice president and other top government officials.
