FG Assures Support For Vulnerable Children

The Federal Government has declared its commitment to any initiative aimed at promoting the welfare and progress of vulnerable children in the country.

Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu made the commitment on Tuesday, in Abuja when he received in audience the delegation from “Save the Children International” on a courtesy visit led by Mr. Peter Adomi-Magoh, the Director of Safety and Security of the Organisation.

Senator Bagudu stated that “initiatives aimed at promoting the welfare and progress of our children are wholeheartedly embraced by the Ministry”.

He assured them that the ministry would extend full support in every possible way.

The Special Adviser to the Minister, Bashar Aliyu Buhari in a statement said, the Minister applauded Save the Children International for their outstanding service to humanity and Nigeria.

The Minister told the delegation that President Bola Tinubu, as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, directed that more investments be made in Nutrition and Children.

This, he said, was reflected in the 2024 budget, where Education and Health allocations have increased significantly. “Additionally, there is a provision of 100 Billion Naira for school feeding to help retain our children in school and address nutritional challenges”, the Minister added.

Earlier, the Director, Safety and Security, Mr Peter Adomi-Magoh who spoke on behalf of Save the Children International, expressed their delight at the opportunity to meet the Honourable Minister.

He conveyed their urgent need for the Ministry’s support in assisting vulnerable children on the streets, school dropouts, especially out-of-school girls, and Almajiris. Their primary goal is to give these children a sense of importance and hope for a better future.

The Minister concluded by reassuring them of the Ministry’s support in working closely with them and other states of the federation, in implementing programs and interventions that will positively improve the lives of children across the nation.

Save the Children International is a leading Non-Profit Organization dedicated to improving the lives of children.

The Meeting had in attendance the Permanent Secretary, Nebeolisa Anako, and other senior management staff of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
