Kano Police Receives Logistic Support Ahead Of Guber Polls

The Kano State Police Command has received additional assets from the Force Headquarters (FHQ), Abuja, ahead of the March 18 Kano State gubernatorial and State Assembly elections.

Spokesperson of the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, made this known on Wednesday, 15 March 2023, while meeting with the members of the Command’s Management Team, Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs).

Recall, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman Baba, had yesterday, extended additional human and logistic support to Commands and Formations across the country for effective election security management during the forthcoming election. He had also ordered the continuous mop-up of illicit arms and ammunition across the nation as part of efforts of the Force to curb the trafficking of illicit small arms and light weapons and mitigate any form of insecurity or threats to the ongoing electoral processes in the country.

The additional assets received by the Kano State Command came in the form of manpower, operational vehicles, non-lethal weapons, Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) and Anti-riot Equipment.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Mamman Dauda, while expressing sentiments of appreciation to the IGP for his dedication to fulfilling his policing vision and mission, charged officers and men of the Command to renew their commitment, vigour and determination in fighting all forms of crime and criminality.

He further charged them to continue to be neutral, apolitical, firm, steadfast and committed to ensuring free, fair, credible, transparent and successful 2023 Kano State gubernatorial and State Assembly elections.

CP Dauda, who appreciated the good people of the State for their continuous support, prayers, encouragement and cooperation, also called on actors to play the game by the rules, eschew thuggery and violence so as to have peace during and after the elections.
