Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has asked religious leaders to preach messages that will restrain members of their congregations from acts capable of breaching the public peace.
Mr. Sanwo-Olu therefore thanked the Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla for his inspiring message of unity and peace.
He said this when he hosted Ramadan Tafsir attended by political and business leaders including Chief Bisi Akande, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Oba Rilwan Akiolu and Aliko Dangote.
The Governor revealed this on his official Twitter handle, @jideSanwo-Olu.
“I hosted a Ramadan Tafsir today attended by political and business leaders such as Chief Bisi Akande, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Oba Rilwan Akiolu and Aliko Dangote.
“I thanked the Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla for his inspiring message of unity and peace.
“I urged leaders of faith organisations who are the conscience of the society to continue to restrain members of their congregation from acts that may breach public peace.
“I also used the opportunity of the event to brief the leaders about many of our programmes and also told them some of the far-reaching actions we are taking to strengthen security and bring succour to Lagosians..”
