Miva Open University has expanded its physical presence in northern Nigeria with the commissioning of a new Study Centre in Kaduna, giving students in the state and surrounding communities a dedicated space for learning support and engagement.
The centre, located at Ungwan Sarki, is designed to give Miva students access to academic support services, opportunities to connect with fellow students known as Miva Stars, and a venue for activities that complement the university’s online-first learning model.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Tayo Arulogun, speaking at the commissioning recently, said the centre reflected the university’s broader push to make education more accessible.
He said accessibility went beyond providing an online platform and also meant creating spaces where students could connect, engage and receive support.
He described Kaduna as an important part of that journey and welcomed both students and the wider community to make use of the new facility.
Fareedah Misbakhun, a Master of Information Technology student who attended the ceremony, said the centre would make studying easier for her, noting that she preferred reading away from home in a quiet setting and called the new space a welcome development.
The Kaduna facility is the latest addition to Miva’s expanding network of study centres, which already includes recently opened locations in Uyo, Abeokuta and Ibadan.
The university said the growth was driven by its rising student population and reflected its effort to reach students across different parts of the country while retaining the flexibility of its online learning approach.
