The Nigerian Air Force NAF celebrated the winner of the National Science Competitive Examination, Master Edeani Izuchukwu, a student of Air Force Comprehensive School (AFCS) Agbani, Enugu State.
According to a statement issued today by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Master Edeani Izuchukwu was awarded the “774 Young Nigerian Scientists Presidential Award”.
TheFact Nigeria reports that the competition, which is organised annually by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, and is opened to all secondary schools nationwide, took place on Monday, 15 March, at the Eagle Square, venue of the ongoing Technology and Innovation Expo 2021.
Air Commodore Gabkwet added that, Izuchukwu, a Senior Secondary 3 student representing Enugu State, came first at the grand finale of the competitive examination held on 14 March 2021 in Abuja.
“He emerged the Best Overall among several other students from the 36 States of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory”, he disclosed.
The Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo presented Master Edeani with his award, which includes a plaque, N1 Million and a scholarship up to PhD level in any Nigerian University of his choice.
TheFact recalls that a similar feat was achieved by Master Peter Arotiba of Air Force Secondary School, Ikeja, when he emerged best overall candidate in the 2018 May/June West African Examination Council WAEC in the entire West African Sub-region with 9 A-1s in 9 Subjects, beating over 1.9 million candidates that sat for the Examination.
