The Nasarawa State Police Command has received several hundreds of security related accessories from various ethnic vigilante groups and other similar organisations.
The State Command’s public relations officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel disclosed this on a statement on Sunday.
TheFact Daily recalls that the State governor, Abdullahi Sule, through an Executive Order signed on Tuesday, 16th April 2024, proscribed all ethnic vigilante groups in the State, and given a two-week ultimatum for the affected groups to handover all uniforms, weapons and other accessories in their possession to the State Police Command.
Consequently, the command has received 267 pairs of uniforms, 102 pieces of black belts and 189 pieces of infantry lanyards from Kungiyar Zaman Lafiya Nomad vigilante group, which also returned 564 black berets, 339 pieces of black lanyards and 10 white lanyards as well as 2 identification cards.
“The Commissioner of Police hereby calls on those who are yet to comply with the Executive Order to do so on or before the expiration of the two-week ultimatum as the Command shall ensure that the ban is enforced to the letter”, the statement said.
