Navy Seizes 58,000 Litres Of Stolen Crude In Rivers Raid

By Sunday Etuka

The Nigerian Navy has uncovered about 58,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil and illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil in Rivers State.

Director Naval Information, Captain AA Folorunsho, in a statement on Monday, disclosed that the product was discovered during an operation by NNS PATHFINDER under Operation Delta Sentinel on October 3, 2026 at Okarki Community in Ahoada West Local Government Area following credible intelligence on crude oil theft and illegal refining activities.

The Navy said two illegal refining sites were disrupted, with nine dugout pits, storage containers and sacks containing the suspected stolen products found at the location.

According to the Navy, the intervention denied criminal operators access to facilities used to store and process stolen petroleum resources and disrupted the supply chain supporting illegal refining in the area.

The sites and recovered products were handled in line with established anti crude oil theft procedures. The statement said no arrest was made as suspected operators fled before the arrival of the naval team.
